A word to the wise:
If you are intending to buy either an extra hard drive for your computer, or even a new computer, it may be wise to do it now.
Hard drive prices are due to rocket in price due to the floods in Thailand. Most of the Hard drive manufacturers have their production base in Thailand and have suffered due to the floods.
As an example; Western Digital, who are largest Hard Drive manufacturer in the World have lost 60% of their production facility due to the floods with no ETA on a restart.
Also, many of the smaller component manufacturers have been wiped out completely.

I have a CCTV business and the digital recorders all run on hard drives. Sourcing them at the moment has become difficult if not imipossible in some cases. And when I can get them the price has almost doubled and likely to get worse. Supply and demand has forced up prices astronomically for me.
Now, if I had a crystal ball I would have bought a few thousand and kept but hindsight is a wonderful thing. I only have about 20 in stock now and reducing fast.

It's slow compared with my 160Gb SSD, as one would expect, but it knocks the spots off every hard drive I've ever had. I like QUIET, high capacity, cheap and moderately fast
Maybe this site needs a new hard drive to judge by how long it's taken me to get here!
How absurd and irresponsible of the manufacturers to place so much of the production of a vital component in one country. One of those many cases where 'the market' fails dismally, i.e. they presumably went there because it was really cheap and enabled them to maximise their profits. But no incentive for them to do anything different next time. They can just whack up the price and consumers will cough up.
The theory is right, but the practicality doesn't seem to be saying "shortage". For example, even PCWorld are knocking out 2Tbyte USB drives for £65.
Nope
That link says out of stock and offers a 500gig instead.
You were too slow...at that price they went quickly. CPC have a 2T for £95. Prices on these things are very fluid, I paid £83 for a Buffalo one from there this time last week.
