I am changing over to Sky bb on monday, have got to set up their router which arrived yesterday. Anyone else had to do this and can tell me of any pitfalls I should avoid please.

I moved to Sky about 12 months ago. I don't remember having any difficulty with setting up the wireless box, it was just a matter of turning it on and giving the items that you want to pair with it the password.

I can say that since I have had it the system had been faultless, never loses signal and is much faster (trice the speed of o2)

It works "straight out of the box". I switched 9 months or so ago and I don't recall any problems in the basic set up. However if you want to use some of the more advanced functions such as port forwarding then you will need to log on as as administrator. From recollection I had to search google for the log on credentials and instructions about advanced set up options as they weren't in the documentation supplied by Sky.
