A friend in Turkey is going to lend me a Turkish dongle so I can get on line while we are in Turkey.

I will have to top it up at a Turkcell shop.

I know absolutely nothing about dongles so what does the top up consist of? He suggested the equivalent of £15 but what will this buy me? Will the dongle be valid for a length of time or how much we use it on line.

We will be there for 90 days and we will use it on two laptops to check mail and do a bit on the www and talk to the family on skype.

Any help will be most welcome, please keep the replies in plain English as the terminology is not my strong point.

Don

And here is the Turkcell site where you can find out about topping up etc. http://www.kktcell.com/pages/1918.aspx

Here are prepay prices: http://www.kktcell.com/pages/2485.aspx

I am not sure how long data remains usable, mostly it's one month. You can ask in a shop when topping up if it's not detailed on these sites.

Please let us know how you get on, Alan.

Edit: Data lasts for 30 days, you can find details on this page: http://www.kktcell.com/pages/2128.aspx

Hi Alan,

Sorted out the Turkcell donglr, paid TL40 for 4GB for 1 month. I think that will be a lot more than we need. You need a Turkish address for the Turkcell dongle, we are OK as a friend loaned us the dongle.

A Danish friend has a Vodaphone dongle as you don;t need an address in Turkey. The only drawback is it must be topped up weekly and costs TL12 and has unlimited GB.
