I remember quite a while ago when I was keen and into all things about computers, I was able to send texts to any mobile phone, can I still do this, as the old grey matter is slowing down a bit and not sure if it is possible.

I do it via Skype Cabby, but as far as I know we can only receive replies to our Skype number which is a UK BT number we pay a small annual fee for. The BT text service then rings us and speaks the reply which we find fine. All this means that when we are outside the UK friends and family can call or text us as though we were in the UK.

I also had web based texts with a Vodafone 3G connection some time ago and could text from there, Alan.
