I'm looking at the Sprinter as a base vehicle for a conversion. Does anyone have experience of the long wheel base or the extra long wheelbase as regards ease of driving, parking and manouvering?

Hi We have a Long Version, very easy to drive, we also now often tow a Yaris as well without any problem. Have often thought about an extra long, but would be concerned about the extra weight unless you upgrade to a higher maximum gross weight.

What about parking in towns. Is that a problem with the length?

I drive a Sprinter SWB Traveliner. I can park it almost anywhere, even in car parks. There is only around 1/2 foot difference between a SWB and an Audi Q7!.

But as soon as you get to MWB Sprinter, things start to get a bit trickier. You will occupy a Carpark space and part of the next. Go to a LWB and things are at the limit for car parking in towns. XLWB just might be too long for you.

I have driven them all and would not go for XLWB on a PVC. If you do, you will have to go for an older 4 series or a newer 5 series, in order to cope with the weight.

Hope this helps?
