I don't know if anyone can help.

Recently bought a new laptop with Windows 7.

The thing installs itself when turned on.

I am connected to the internet ok, using it to type this.

I don't seem to have problems with any web sites I have looked at so far APART FROM Talk Talk.co.uk

As this is my ISP provider and where I access my account and web mails it is raher annoying to find that this page doesn't seem to load or load properly.

Mostly if it doe come up it has lots of blank areas with red crosses wher images should be. The my account and my mail tabs are either blank with red crosses or not appearing.

This afternoon I have tried again and the round thing on the tab keeps going round and the page not loading.

I do not have any problems loading the Talktalk page on my old laptop and win xp.

This machine came with a trial Norton Security Suite of 60 days which I am using at the moment. Is that likely to be blocking it?

IE9 is on the laptop.

I have tried allowing cookies for talktalk and turning on pop up feature for talktalk all to no avail.

Just wonder what else I can do.

Thanks in advance.

Has your Win 7 machine got any other browsers e.g. Firefox or Chrome available to try out on the talktalk website??

Our IT dept aren't too impressed with IE9 so far and have been downgrading a few peoples pc's in the office due to it not being very compatible with our own developed software.

Ben

Thanks Ben.

Looks like I will have to download Chrome. I am using Chrome on my old laptop as well as IE8.

Thought I would use IE9 as it was already on this new laptop. did try asing talktalk via their help section and only got an automated response or standard response like clearing cookies, temp files etc. I had already told them it was a new laptop.

Funny how other sites seem to load ok.

If your laptop is 64 bit, you will have both 64 and 32 bit versions of IE9 but although 64 bit is faster, not all websites are compatible with it.

Thanks

I just click onto the IE logo on the taskbar but I see in the start menu there is IE 64 bit and another IE.

So if I was to click onto the other IE would it be better.

Talktalk page once I clicked onto the email tab came up in basic mode. Also said java script not enabled. Does that mean I have to install Java?

Also a reply from talktalk help says to install Adobe Flash player.

You could also look at the star thingy top right, "Tools", go into Manage Add-ons, and see if you have any disabled. One by one, try enabling them and see if your red crosses become pictures. All part of the gradual set-up of a new computer. If you get no further, try asking an expert!! Rolling Eyes Wink Laughing

Oh, I'm on IE9, 32 bit and it all seems fine.

Good luck! Very Happy

Hello again Rita! I have both Adobe Flash which helps with pictures, and Java. I have them enabled. Touch wood, my laptop is going well. Surprised

Cheers

Well I have downloaded Adobe Flash Player 11 something.

I switched to IE9 32 bit and talktalk banner came up but nothing else.
Sad

Looked in manage add ons again and it still says Adobe shockwave Flash object. can't see the newly downloaded adobe flash player unless its one and the same. Anyhow it is enabled.

There are Java updates are required for both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of IE. If you go to the Java site using the 64 bit version it has an article about using the 32 and 64 bit versions on the same computer.

There is a version checker available for 32 and 64 bit browsers which will test if you have the latest version.. search Google for Java updates for 32 bit IE it is Version 6 update 29. May be another path to explore!!
