If it is a tinkling sound, high pitched rather than a knocking sound low pitched, we can assume the noise is coming from the top of the engine rather than the bottom, so I would not say it was the ' big End'
This leads me to ask is it the engine or one of the bolt ons.meaning a alternator, turbo, pas, etc.
I would also contact Fiat direct and complain that their appointed garage cannot explain what the fault is and could do with a proper Fiat trained technition to come and inspect the vehicle. You can also go to the trading standards and ask for help with this as you are getting nothing from the dealer in response to your faulty vehicle.
I always point out that, although it might not apply to you,If you have finance of the type that means the vehicle is actually owned by the finance company until paid for.contact them, they will help if you push.
Yes, the only way is to get a Fiat technician to look at your problem. The local garage should swallow their pride and arrange it. Fiat UK will do this if you ask.

We have a new Autocruise Ryhthm based on the 2.3 130 Euro 5 Fiat engine. I have noticed a similar noise when in 6th gear at about 45 mph, which goes away at 50mph.
I also recognise the noise from a 1970's car when the little ends went, but also from pre-ecu petrol engines with timing or mixture issues which caused pinking.
During the first 1,000 miles I have been taking it steady, and put the noise down to me labouring the engine occasionally by mistake. I always remember a mechanic pal telling me that it was safer to rev a new engine when running in, than labouring it.
I have tried to remember this, and the noise disappears when you go down a gear. It is worse when the engine is cold.
Looking forward to hearing more.
