I have this 230 watt panel that has the front glass shattered, but has been working fine for several months until it finally got replaced. It doesn't even seem to leak.

When getting my Electroblok fixed I also bought the Schaudt solar controller. So now the issue is that I think the panel may have an output too high for the controller. What do I need to look for and is there some device that I might buy that will adjust the output of the panel.

The max output of the panel Umpp max is 29.34 volts, Impp 7.84 Open circuit Ux 37.17 v

For the controller they show off load voltage max 25v, overall nominal current max 18amps.

I am having a hard time comparing the two to even know where I am with this.

google- ivt 20a mppt

it can run up to a 60v panel and has a decent conversion coil inside to drop the voltage and increase the amperage ...

I purposely bought a higher voltage panel as there are benefits to using one Wink

just a thought , 30a 24v to 12 v converters are available on ebay and you might get away with using one of them (£15 from china)

I was given a 100w panel which had shattered glass. I just placed another piece of glass over the top with Marineflex, it now powers the pump in my garden pond. I did the same with another panel which now powers a lamp at the bottom of my drive.

Seems like the 24v to 12v would be a very economical solution. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

I brought the 230 watt panel home today. And now I need to decide what the best way to treat it is. The tempered glass is all shattered but intact in a way. It is pretty big so a sheet of glass might be a problem. Maybe plexiglass, though I wonder if heat could be an issue.

Also it is too much for my Schaudt regulator, which is rated at 25v max, 18 A max. The panel has a max of 30.2v and current of 7.62 amps multiplied equals 230.12 watts. So what if I bought one of those 24 to 12 volt converters would I be getting a max of 12v and 19 amps to equal 230 watts or something less. Since it would rarely put out 230 watts that might be within the limits of the regulator.
