Here is the update info you will require to be able to get your Alden orbiter ssc dish to pick up the astra satellites.I only hope that I can upload the details. Here goes.!!!!!!
Regards Geoffthefridgeman.
Our Alden system suddenly stopped picking up any satellites about a month ago. (We usually connect to Astra 2S - we're in London)
Will this fix it?
We do have a tree slightly in the way which caused the signal to be a bit dodgy at times, but it did always connect before - now nothing at all.
Added to that, the last time I tried it the SSC started losing power while it was searching for a satellite, so I started to think that maybe the SSC was dying.
If it is likely that the SSC is dead, does anyone know where we can get a replacement in the UK?
Hmmm, ours stopped working about 5 weeks ago, not easy as we are now in France, we had the system checked by an Alden installer who says it was the box, we took it back to Eddie who has updated it and I am just waiting to get enough tme to reinstall it........
We will get back on here once we have done that, I have to say that I trust VanBitz totally, they are VERY helpful. So I would certainly follow their advice on here.

Yes in your case it sounds like the SSC simply needs updating and if you use the proceedure above it should update automatically
Please DO NOT carry the update out unless your system will not lock onto Astra 2 North or South
Eddie
hi eddie. a big thank you for emailing me the new 28east frequency for my Alden orbiter platinum satellite . i put the new numbers in this morning and it locks on 28 north & 28 south straight away and i have ended up with more channels on each one . while i am talking about Sat's if you have the facility to get your sat to lock on 5w Atlantic there is only about 6 channels on but it is french 2-3-4-5 stations which comes in very handy when you need french weather .jud
