I have just downloaded the 60 day free trial version of Autoroute 2011, having had a quick 5 min play with it , it doesnt appear to be any different / improvement on the 2010 version which I already have & havent deleted. any comments please

Lucy 2 is our motorhome, Lucy 1 was a 45ft Narrowboat sold for Lucy 2. Lucy was a German Shepherd female the love of my life ( after the wife of course)
Have you tried opening an existing .axe file with it . . . one prepared and saved on 2010?
Unless they have done a tweak since it was first released (highly unlikely ) it won't open the file!
It will convert it, but it's very slow, and if you have a lot of saved routes it will be a pain - though only once. It will save in 2011 format once it has converted.
I agree with you that it doesn't seem much different, which explains why I shall continue to use 2010, at least for the next year or two.
(In fact, I didn't find any differences at all - not that I spent all that long comparing the two. The maps will/should ( ) be a bit more up-to-date, but not a lot will have changed in one year.)

It will let me open an existing.axe route saved in 2010, it shows the route in kms as i havent changed the default setting in 2011.

I suspect that if you only use Autoroute occasionally or perhaps only use it for the UK and France or for route planning then the differences are subtle at best, but since ours is on for the entire duration of our journey we've noticed some big differences in the detail available for minor roads and especially the built in POI's which are almost double in some cases.
If it will do that I may well buy a copy of 2011, since we make extensive use of it, mostly for holidays abroad but it's very handy in this country too.
Must have another look - it could have been driver error on my part!!
There's a bit more info >> here << from ActiveCampers. (I didn't try the POIs, but reloading them from .csv files would not be a big problem.)
My Board Atlas 2011 file in our downloads contains the full information including hyperlinks to the board atlas site and page numbers to the books so why would you want to use anything else
