Hi & Help.

Yesterday while deleting old programmes I managed to deleat the sound driver from our netbook.

The netbook is an Archos 10 OS windows XP and when I did a search on the netbook it comes up as some sort of HP made thing.

I did email Archos about the problem but they did not want to know as it was over 12 months old.

The sound driver was a Realtec audio driver version = 2.62 what ever that is. I did try to dounload a driver for the netbook with no luck.

So do any wizz kids know what I should do now. I am in Spain until next March so need the sound to use Skype.

Thanks for any help.

You can download the drivers from Realtek themselves - see if this helps:

http://www.realtek.com/downloads/

Go to the High definition audio codecs, accept their conditions by ticking the box and click on "next" .... this takes you to a page with lots of drivers. I suspect the best one for you is the one titled "Windows 2000, Windows XP/2003(32/64 bits) Driver only (Executable file)".

Download it (by clicking on UK1 to the right) and run it by double clicking on the file you have downloaded. It should then load and (maybe) need a restart.

Come back or PM me if you need any more help.

Colin

Did you check the recycle bin to see if it is still loitering there?

If it's not in the Recycle Bin it might be worth doing a System Restore

I did the same thing while cleaning up an old computer I was giving away. I just rolled it back using system restore and that fixed it, Alan.

Hi All.

Thanks for all your help. I did not think a system restore would work after deleting drivers but it has. Deep joy.
