I use my DVD drive a lot to print from CD's. Auto run doesnt always work, sometimes I have to go into 'my computer' to gain access

This morning I printed some stuff, but this afternoon it does want to play. Rolling Eyes
I have tried different CD's but nothing works.

Any ideas please

Does the light come on when you stick a dvd in it?

If it doesnt take the top off the box /tower and check the power cable in the back of the dvd drive hasn't come adrift. Soemtimes they can dislodge. It is just a push fit.

If it isnt that buy another theyre only about 20 quid.

There's only the two things going into the back of the dvd drive inside the machine. A ribbon cable - which carries the data and a power cable which is only 5 volts.

They just push in - nothing clever or technical. You will be surpised how much fresh air there is in there when you take the top off.

The actual drive itself sits in a caddy(fancy name for a bracket) that is kept in place with a couple of small screws.

Here's a link to a film showing how quick and easy it is, To either do yourself or only pay a little bit if someone else does it.

(Check the power cable yourself at the back of it first though)

As said take the cover off and make sure the cables are all plugged in tight, just push on them. Take your vacuum to it and get rid of all the dust. Also sometimes the little pully belt that makes the thing turn breaks. If you want to fool around with it you can actually buy a new one and replace it. But actually it's probably easier to just put in a new drive if checking the cables doesn't help.
