Just returned from a couple of weeks in France staying at aires.

On several occasions I managed to 'see' wifi access points for freewifi.fr and connected to them. The browser then displayed a welcome screen requiring the input of a userid/password and a link was give for registration. However that link simply re-displayed the enter userid/password screen.

Has anyone managed to register to use this service?

The best we have managed in france is €3 for 48 hours wifi on the aire in Stenay. Free in Mc Donalds.

Yes. We found quite a few of these. What is really frustrating is that none of the open wi fi points seem to have a pay-as-you-go option.

On many occasions I would have happily paid several euros for an hours internet access.
