I recently bought a Cello 19" tv and it works very well in the motorhome even though I only have the flying saucer type aerial. We are now in Spain and although we can generally receive a number of channels none of the films or US serials are received in English. The Language settings on the menu are all set to English but they only broadcast in Spanish.

Now I realise that tv in Spain will be in Spanish but our friends next door to us can, on a number of programmes, select an English language version. I apparently can not.

Does anyone know the answer to this?

Same programme through a different provider? eg you get Virgin or FTA they get Sky. Obviously the Spanish equililents but that would be my bet.

You may have to retune your TV to the local channels - it's not enough to just tune, you may need to go back to the first installation menu - you can usually choose a different country but still have the language as english - I discovered this on day 6 of 7 when in The Netherlands, having given the site IT people a lot of grief over non-existent TV channels.....

No I don't think so, we are talking digital terrestrial tv here like Freeview back home. We are both using digital tvs, no decoders, with standard aerials albeit his is a better (directional) one. The real difference that I can see is that we are not using the same make of tv. He has the ability to select 'VO' as his language which I take it to mean the Original language the film/serial was made in. I have no such option except the selection of English as the language for OSD, Subtitles and Audio. Even switching on subtitles only gives me the option of Spanish or nothing even if the language selected on the menu is 'English'. It just does not seem right, does it?

Different decoders (inside TV)?

That is a thought Ian but I have retuned a number of times as we have steadily motored through France and Spain and given reasonably good reception the tv will pick up plenty of digital channels. On this particular site I have picked up 72 tv and 28 radio stations so I have my doubts as to whether this is my problem.

As I type this however I have gone back to the original 'Quick Start' Menu and retuned instead of the normal Menu button to see if it makes any noticable difference.

.....and the answer is that it does not seem to have made any difference apart from having picked up an odd analogue channel as well but two less radio channels this time.

yes I think satandpcguy (jon) would be able to help.... I'll have a punt here as its all the do with the program you are watching and if the service provision allows you to select a second or thrid audio channel if its transmitted in the first place and thats what you need to be able to change and I would not think is to do with the tv settings except being able to access the other audio channels within the program you are watching...... I recall being able to do this on a spanish downlink but useing the terestial tv I was not able to do that... at the time i did not look any further into it...... was just nice to be able to understand the odd program.... which were american shows and films but not all of them.....
