Hi,

Very clever - but I found it somewhat mesmerising - the temptation to just look at the screen and ignore all of the peripheral activity could be huge.

Won't be long before we can sit in rear facing seats looking at a monitor - no need for a windscreen at all - I know, lets call it a train Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes .

Regards,
John

I agree. Whilst its clever I think a sat nav needs to show a simplistic view of the road ahead.

I did wonder how long it would be before a sat nav showed live footage but the only use I can see would be when it can see much further ahead so you know whats coming up. Cant see how they would ever achieve that though

Interesting. I can see it being useful at more complicated junctions and traffic systems.
I wonder what happens when the council puts in a roundabout - how long would it be before the graphics are updated?

I think its a live feed from the camera so it will display exactly what is in front of you overlayed with directions from the GPS.

Its not going to display anything you cant see though.

sorry if I missed something, but would the lead car turn across traffic or would it wait for a gap? Like someone else said, it is mesmorising and I found I followed the car oblivious to the surroundings and potentially across on coming traffic....very good but a little dodgey,

And there's the rub - what happens when it rains - or is foggy - or it rains at night?

Good idea, but maybe not quite ready to replace all those existing Tom Toms etc.

John

I think its brilliant!
Don't forget the vid shows the GPS filling the screen whereas in real life it would only occupy a very small place on the dash so would not be obscuring your vision at all.
If it has voice instructions as well.....a winner.
