W have the bove, now 3 years old, and whilst down in France Sept/Oct this year, for the first time we lost BBC1 and 2 around 1700. We could get ITV ok all day and evening
Has anyone else been affected this year - I know they are playing with satellites but we have always got it down to Narbonne Plage before.
If anyone else has a different dome and can get it, please let me know.
We got the rugby without problems at AUBIGNAS on our way north on ITV when French with their Oysters couldn't pick it up (final) due to wind, domes definitely score then

Thinking of Peter and Fiona and Fighting with Mavis and Ray and also Paul (Otto)
About that time, astra have changed the channels on the BBC, just rescan or just down load the soft wear for your receiver... Not having your dome but it's a common issue with all the auto dishes etc..

hi carol. am afraid to say that is what happens with domes we had one and after south of France you start to lose signal the further south you go the bigger the dish is needed.jud
Well the good news is that Astra 1N is about to go live at 28.2E; 5th or 6th Dec I believe for CH4HD, 5* and 5USA, and later CH5HD. Apparently the footprint of this satellite is bigger than the existing satellites and people (on Sat forums) are receiving the test signals in Spain at higher quality than BBC channels.
These sat forums also reckon that 1N will take over all the channels from 2D in 2012 for a year or so until 2E/2F/2G get in position in 2013; then who knows what?

C4HD and the fives are already on 1n, and have been on 1n for about a week now.
The date of the 6th Dec is the launch of Channel 5+1.
The date of the 8th Dec is the launch of the Five channels (Five* and Five USA) on Freesat, as they will be "free to air")
Five HD is locked into a SKy contract until suimmer 2012 they say.

1n has at least 3 beams, so would expect the two pan european beams to be better than the 2d beam! Its the "spot beam" whoese reception every one was dreading, but it looks like this may not be as bad as thought. Until more frequencies open up a true picture cannot really be formed.
I have been getting many emails about reception of the fives on 1n...and many people having trouble with reception using 80cm dishes south of Alicante.

They may do so. BUt during tests there were some frequencies on 1n that I could not get on my 80cm or 100cm but only on my 1.8m dish.

We have a Camos and I can get ITV all the way down to Benidorm, believe it or not !!
If you use ITV Centrals on freq 11973 - then they are also expected to move to astra 1n also - so reception will differ to how it is today.

BBC Channel changes ths year:
BBC1HD and BBC HD changed parameters.
BBC Newsw, Parliamnet, Alba and "streams" changed frequencies.
There have been no changes to BBC 1 or BBC2 channels since Oct 2010.
