Hi everyone, I have just purchased a 1996 Sprinter 312D and have a few queries you may be able to help me with.
1) The brakes work well but the pedal goes almost to the floor. A few people have told me this is normal with ABS on a sprinter, Is that right, or if not what is the cure. I've pressure bled the system but no change.
2) There are mounings at the rear for an antiroll bar but none fitted although the mounting points appear to be "used". Should there be one ?
3) Finally has anyone got a normal owners handbook for a 312D which I could purchase. I have the Haynes manual but want a handbook as well.
Any helpful advice would be most welcome. Thanks Ian-h
Mine's the same - has been since new - no problems. Had the fluid changed this year - still the same. Someone a while back suggested fitting stainless steel hoses

The above is only a personal opinion
Having run several sprinters of varying mileage, from 96 models up to 09 although the later ones are better, the brakes are true heart stoppers, but will always pull you up, they seem to work slowly, by that I mean progressively no matter the pressure applied at the brake pedal they grab more the longer you press the pedal but at rest they feel like porridge.
hi, i have a 07 316 sprinter and the brakes have always felt a bit different from other vehicles i have driven .my brakes went a bit strange going down a big hill near clermont ferrand back in the summer. nearing the bottom of the hill they seemed to be going on and off as if the discs were warped. i kept off the brakes as much as possible on the way down but they still must have got pretty hot. after a few miles they cooled down and were normal again and have been since. is this normal and if so is there any way of curing it? sorry for the mini hijack, all the best sean
Had the same concerns with my 2003 316 sprinter. they are ALL like it personally I dont like it at all but there is nothingb that can be done to alter/improve it
