This is more of an 'I'd be interested to know' rather than a 'Panic stations' question.

Anyway, I changed from IE to Firefox about a month ago. I've noticed that the little envelope in my 'emails tab' sometimes has a red border & sometimes a grey border. The colour of the border doesn't seem to be affected by whether or not I've received new mail - or even spam. Can anybody please explain the occasional colour change?
