If you use ITV1 Central S or Central E via your sky box other channels, then you will get "no signal" messages.
They changed frequencies this afternoon.
New frequency 11053 h 22 5/6.
This is on the new Astra 1N satellite.
Reception will not be the same as when they were on their previous frequency (south beam)

On the plus side they are now free to air, meaning no sky card is required to watch these channels.

Reason for change by satandpcguy: missing "N" from Astra 1N

Is Astra1 like the north beam then?

No.
Astra 2a and Astra 2b have north and south beams.
Astra 1n has 1 "uk spot" and 2 pan european beams.
Astra 2d has one "uk spot" beam.

All are located in the same "space" in space.

(I have added the missing "n" from Astra 1N in the OP!)

Astra 1N was designed to be located at 19 east...not where it is now at 28 east. Its reception is not as "tight" as 2d, but those in fringe reception areas canaries portugal and greece have seen a loss of ITV1 and chanenl Five channels, that they souuld ewasily receive when these channels were ont he south beam, but are now finding their dishes are too small to receive these same channels on 1N

In the same way that if you used to get these ITV1 channels nice and easy on 60cm dishes in Spain, then you may find your reception is no more, sa this 1N beam is a lot wekaer then the prvios south beam...

Yes ITV1 Central South is coming thro with excellent signal quality with the van parked on my drive in Rojales just north of Torrevieja. Therefore lets hope all those with a decent dish maybe 80cm dia will all get this without the freesat from sky card and sky box. I wont be removing my Pace javelin 12v box as it allows me to watch one and record another on my media player/recorder. Also we dont know what the future will bring and 12v sky boxed could again be rare and expensive. As this area is a previous bad area for UK TV reception the deploy of 1n could be a benefit to MHR's travelling down here. Anyone with a crankup or planer and down here? try it and post on this thread. I dont expect domes will be large enough. I am ofcourse using a Kathrein Cap900 Smile

A| few questions:

Will this channel be available on a Maxview (Silvercrest) free to air box coupled with my 65cms Teleco automatic dish. If so will a scan be required to pick up the new frequency?

Presumably if its available in the reception blackspot area of the Costa Blanca it should be available further south into as far as Portugal where reception tends to improve.

I've also got a Pace 12v minibox. Do you have to key in the new channel when the box is reprogrammed to south beam?

Sorry if these are stupid questions but my knowledge of these things is less than adequate.

hi gelathae, now the channels are not encoded you can scan in the frequencies in any box not just a skybox. dont know the maxview receiver but look for single transponder scan in the installation part of the menu and add the relevent transponder details there. you can add the channels in wherever you are. if you were in costa blanca with a skybox you would normally change the default transponder then scan in the channels. if a normal satellite receiver then just scan them. all the best sean
