I'd like to know why search terms have to be at least four characters? There are so many three letter acronyms in use these days (DVD, ABS, etc etc) - this restriction is a big limitation.

The experts on here say the search facility is surgically precise. I can't make it work at all. I search for MHF topics in Google and get far better results.

Perhaps as suggested one of the experts would give us a tutorial, please, Alan.

Same here. I usually type what I'm looking for in Google then add motorhomefacts at the end. Works pretty well.

Having said that, as someone pointed out to me once before on here, subject titles like 'can you help?' don't help! Key words like 'battery' or 'tyres' need to be in the subject line of posts.

I would like to repeat the request for a tutorial, as I am unable to get sensible results from a search.

A worked example works wonders. Someone give what they are looking for, and why (context is everything) and no doubt those who can will make suggestions.

If you click on the search button not having entered any search terms then after 5 seconds you get presented with the main search page which explains the syntax - see image. I don't like the syntax but it does seem to work!

That is the search I use Bill and I do as instructed.

Sorry Dave I can't think what I last looked for and could not find, maybe it will come to me, Alan.

It seems to work if all terms are more than three letters, yes. Try searching for 12V LCD TV, for example: "No topics or posts met your search criteria". Now don't tell me there are no posts on this forum that contain all of those terms. Someone will probably say search for "12volt liquid crystal display television", but who types all that out in their posts? Everyone uses three letter acronyms on a regular basis. The search function on this site is crippled.

12v* and lcd* seems to work (to some extent)
