I don't know about you, but my old printer a Canon Pixman 610 is still printing Ok and I have never had any problems, but I was unable to printe from my ipad or iphone when I was away from my 'office' - so I had been debating whether to upgrade it and buy a newer model that would now work.... expensive.... and really not necessary at the moment

So a bit of googling found this site:

I found this app on the following website. It has a 7 day trial and is $19.95 to buy if you like it and it works for you. I have just tried it out and it works seamlessley without me doing anything. It instantly found my printer and I printed out a page, came back upstairs to my office, and hey bingo, there was the printed page.

http://www.ecamm.com/mac/printopia/

I am unconnected with the company or website, but have found it great, as it means my current printer can keep on printing until it decides to give up the ghost. Being retired, I don't keep up quite so religiously with new items anymore, as it isn't needed for day-to-day things I now need it for.

Hope it may help others in a similar position.

Carol

Hi Carol,

We have tried various apps for printing, free and paid for, from an ipad and a macbook with mixed results. Some are clunky and need a "helper" program to be running on the PC/MAC.

We also had a Canon Pixma MP600 for a few years but it drove me mad with printhead errors using both genuine and compatible cartridges.

We have recently bought an HP wireless B110 scanner copier printer which has genuine Apple airprint and it JUST works from all our computers and ipad/iphones.

It cost about £44 from Amazon and was a similar price from a local Staples shop - but a set of genuine HP cartridges XL (higher capacity) is over £50 even from online suppliers - such is life.

I'm afraid the Pixma went to the recycling centre although it was great for printing photos when it worked.

Steve

Carol - look in the Ap store as there is a free ap from Canon plus quite a few others for just over £1.
