Reading all the posts about the exhorbitant cost of replacing a stolen cat I'm getting a bit nervous!
I've spent the last half hour searching for a source for a decat pipe for a 2.2 Boxer x250. All I can find is one on eBay at a ripoff price. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be most grateful.

Hi,
I gave up looking for a pipe as your comment re rip off prices - cheapest I could find was £90 ish + pp
As in the other post I ended up buying the pipe, bar.studs and plate off ebay and welding them into a simple bypass pipe for my X250
Cost was less than £30 and timewise less than a hour working outside with a cordless drill, mini welder and hand tools
I actualy fitted the pipe today as I was waiting for a flange gasket and some new rubber hangers (two had failed so all X259 owners check yours )
Cat is locked up in case I decide to refit for MOT
I have taken a photo and have the measurements if anyone requires them but need instructions on how to upload a pic
And no I am not making any more - its to cold and to wet here at the marina as we are working on the boat for a while
Good Luck
Ray

Save the pic to your desktop and use the "add an attachment" bit at the bottom of the box you type your reply into.
Click on <browse> go to your desktop, select the pic you saved, then click on <add attachment> and then on <submit>

Surely this would totally put your emissions off the scale....or am I missing something ?

No it doesn't - it doesn't affect any emission (currently) tested in the MOT.
At the moment the MOT simply tests for "opacity" (smoke, to you and me).

Ok, thanks....so, is there any downside to de-catting, or should we all be doing it now?

Well it depends whether you mean 'damaging emissions that are destroying the planet' or those that the MOT tests.
I just can't believe anyone would be selfish enough to do this - take of a cat just in case anyone might steal it
Sorry but this has really touched a raw nerve with me.
