Last week there was a thread about Wi Fi and a couple of posts mentioned the lap top dropping the connection and I think that Addie mentioned that settings could be altered to eliminate this problem. Someone had tried this but it did not work.
For the last couple of weeks, my lappy has been dropping it's connection while at home. I have not tested anywhere else as we have not been away.
However yesterday afternoon, our home BT broadband went down, luckily, I was still able to get BT Fon and I think this was through my own router.
I telephoned the automated helpline and it said that people on BT with the advanced McAfee security, in other words with the upgraded 2nd stage service (can't remember the correct name) were having an issue downloading and they were sorting this out.
Low and behold, since yesterday evening, when my service returned, no wi fi connection has been dropped.
Meaning that in my case it was a BT problem and not at my end.
I just thought this may help anyone struggling with a connection as it may be out of your control.
