Hi, can anybody help.

I have just treated myself to a new Avtex L185DR TV for Christmas and am having difficulty fitting it into my MH. The problem is my TV compartment has a slide out bracket with a standard flat plate with many hole combinations. When I mount the TV to the bracket the mounting plate covers all of the connector input points.

I cannot fit the standard arm style bracket with X shaped mounting plate unless it is the slide out type and I have not seen one anywhere.

I don't think I have explained it very well but needless to say I have checked out all the brackets at our local Dealers where I bought the TV and they could not help, to be fair to them they did say try again when the workshop is openand they may find something. I am therefore open to any suggestions from anybody who has had a similar experience.

On the back of the TV where the 4 mounting hole are, measure the distance between 2 of the holes in a straight line (not diagonal).
This will tell you the "VESA" size.. ex is it's 75mm which is very common then you need a VESA 75 bracket..

If it's not square but rectangle the same thing applies but you look for something like "Vesa 100 x 200".. get the idea ??
At least it may help you look for the right bracket.. Also look in the handbook as it may state the VESA size..

Just looked that up and its's square mount so maybe Vesa 75 or 100 i guess...

Thanks Tonka,
I have been looking through the net and it looks like I have similar to the Project 2000 sliding bracket fitted. I need to figure out if I can change the current TV mounting plate on the bracket with a smaller one that covers VESA 75/100 hole pattern, maybe then the cables will fit.

Oh well, thanks for the help, I will have to keep looking.

Are you absolutely sure the Project 2000 will not fit the Avtex because we had the project and it fit our TV (not avtex) with the x pattern.

With our Avtex 18dr it was the cupboard which wouldn't take the TV so we have a fitting where the headrest goes - no good if you need travel seats.

Derek, The position of the TV in the Hymer is not one which we find comfortable when watching it at night, we wanted it at the opposite end of the motorhome. Problem solved by getting a mounting from Snelly vision which makes it easy to detach the tv and move it to another position in the van. It comprises a small VESA plate attached to the slide out and another attached to the tv, they clip together - might well be suitable for your problem.

Hi Bozzer,

Sorry to hi jack the subject, but does the project 2000 bracket swivel as well as drop down and where are they available from?. Would like to fit it in a cupboard but the tv would have to swivel as well.

Thanks

Nidge

Is this the kind of thing you are looking for?

http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tvcables/BT7525-flip-down-mount.html

I do not have a Avtex but this was ideal for me. Just one word of warning though, it does wobble when in the up position. I used the original polystyrene packaging that came with my tv to hold it securely when travelling, otherwise it is excellent.

Hi Bozzer, thanks for the reply, the TV will fit on the mounting plate but the plate then totally obscures the connector inputs to the TV. I am wondering if there are diferent mounting plate solutions for the Project 2000 sliding bracket?

I have beent trying to insert a photo to show the problem but I am not having any success with it.

John W, that tilt up bracket may be a solution for me as a last resort, but I would really like to have it mounted in the TV cupboard and slide it out when required.

Can anybody help me in pcopying a photo so it is easier to show?

Hi all,

See the pictures of the problem. Does this make it any clearer? I keep thinking there must be a different mounting plate style out there somewhere??

What connector inputs do you need to use? If its the red, white and yellow leads and coax then would it be possible to drill holes in the metal bracket through which could be threaded the leads?
