Yes very true.... I would also make sure you can connect an external aerial if required, as a few of them I have seen do not have that facility... Enjoy

They would work perfectly for local TV channels as all digital in Europe is the same except UK HD services, which are DVB-T2.
Not seen any without an external aerial connection although many have an MCE connection, which would be supplied with an adaptor.

Do they have the ability to allow you to watch english language films/programmes in the original language as some multi standard tuners do?

Have a look at this website http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/

The forums there are full of good info.

I have used a FreeSAT USB dongle with a tripod mounted 65cn sat dish in Europe. I remember watching the F1 in Switzerland..that could be a better way to go....I carry both though

This is the one I have http://www.geniatech.com/pa/hdstar.asp

PM me if you need more info!!

John,
All digital tuners have the ability to listen to a secondary language provided it is transmitted. I cannot remember when I last came across a multilanguage broadcast.

Thanks Gerry,

Not wishing to hijack the original subject but I thought it might be a consideration if local tv was your only 'medium'. I asked because I currently have an issue with Cello where although I have set all language parameters to English it only broadcasts in the local language whereas my friends who have a Toshiba and were right next door to us could receive the same films in the original language (English).
