Right you lot Surprised Surprised I know it's a pain in the butt, but there are quite a few of us out here in the cold and dark waiting for you to post all the stuff that you're getting up to, and forgive me for saying it but most of you seem to be less than good at posting any photos or info.

There is on average less than a couple of posts per week in this section, what must all the other forums be thinking of us.

I know once I start, I'll be getting booed of stage as I'll post every time I do something, even my cock ups as even they will help someone along.

It doesn't have to be a work of art or even something you've done, you might want to simply discuss the best way to approach a particular job, which would promote chat and we'd all learn from the experience.

Maybe too, we could start a separate thread on how toos like how to fit a grey/fresh underslung water tank on various vans, where to get he tanks from and which model number works best.

So come on get posting and I'll do so too once we get a van and make a start.

And don't forgetthat a few decent photos, & the right way up, say so much more.

I'll post some details and maybe some pics later.

Mine is a very modest affair and, like all self-builds, customed to my needs - it won't appeal to many.

I think yours may be very interesting Tony, as you have to solve serious space problems which would help most people in some way.

Not really, I'm just trying to generate a bit of enthusiasm, not having delved in yet, I can imagine there are times when builders question why they're doing it, the reasons could be many fold.

and there are so many problems to overcome, it's interesting reading.

Well I think so anyway Laughing Laughing

Yup, and I'm in it too, but I find this site to be a bit better to be honest, SBMCC isn't my cup of char, can't explain why really, I just struggle on it.

I like both here and SBMCC. They are totally different forums when it comes to style. Here its more laid back, albeit a little selfish at times.......why aren't you interested in the fact that I am sleeping in her for the next ten nights? You could have asked about the insulation qualities etc.

SBMCC is more down to earth, more factual, more technical, deeper into the subject, more serious about the subject. And of course its more about self build. Their AGM was one of the best weekends we have ever been on, so much fun and so informative.

My advice to anyone planning a self build is to set themselves targets. I never asked myself why as I was doing it, I just got on with it. I was balancing home life and business life and the self build. Sometimes my day would start at 5am and finish at 10pm, with constant work in between. But it was worth it

I'm working on the post Smile

The space consideration has certainly been a big factor - it really makes you think about what you need versus what you were going to fit.
For example, I'm now on hob number 3 after realising that, being solo, my cooking habits are less adventurous and I don't really NEED 4 burners, or 2 burners but 1 so I can lose the x kg gas tank (and spare) and regulator and piping and all that goes with it - I now use a single burner, cartridge stove - £19.99. Small, inexpensive, portable and most of all - perfect for me.
Most of the fittings I have now are "better" options to those I fitted just 2 years ago - and I still have a few ideas for improvements.

It's nice to be able to get stuck in with a drill or saw, something not so easy with a big white palace Very Happy
