Hi all, I'm contemplating buying a new garmin the 1695 nuvi, my question is do you still have to change the country when routing in the uk ie if your in wales and your looking for somewhere in england do you still have to change the country to england, only i have a four year old nuvi and this is the case and i find it a bit of a hassle when your looking for poi's and addresses near the borders.

Many Thanks.

Hi and as far as I am aware you still have to change countries when planning a route.
Typically Chester area (CH)where part is in England and Part is in Wales (post code wise not the city!!!).
Obviously I appreciate that it comes up with not found but as you will be travelling close to an adjacent area, then if that comes up then put in the adjacent country.
I have the 1490TV and that is the same as some but with TV added and less than 12 months old but I still prefer the garmin to other more 'popular' brands.

I have a nuvi 1490 with western Europe maps and just enter my destination and the satnav seems to handle it even if it is in a different country. Certainly this seems to be the case if you are in France and wish to go over the border to, say, Germany.

That said I am generally entering a lat/long position rather than an address.

I certainly don't think you will have any problems within the UK. Smile

If you are looking for a specific address ie, "Castle Gate" Chester, that would be in "England"

How ever, if you are looking at your POI's, then you select the POI file that you need, and the garmin will give you the closest POI's in a nearest first to your current position.
