Birdbox camera help please

For Xmas I have been given a bird box with a built in "webcam".

Instructions suggest I should just plug it in to my laptop and, hey presto, big pictures of insides of box. Problem is my Windows 7 doesn’t seem to want to play.

The camera is working ok as it shows up on the (rather rubbish) “windows live” movie-maker software. What I really want is not to record it, but just a straightforward view-what’s-happening-now function.

Any simple ideas out there?

I've also been given one, mine is from Handykam.com. I've also been given EasyCap hardware & software which works well (having a play with the camera in the open) on my Windors 7 Laptop. Simple live viewing is possible on the PC or on a TV using the supplied SCART connector.
