TOAD - Suspending Insurance

Looking at getting a TOAD but the main thing that is putting me off is the insurance. It's stupid, we pay less than £300 including breakdown cover for the MH but they seem to want £450+ for a Smart car or similar!!! We will probably only do 2000 miles.

So I was thinking does any one 'suspend' their TOAD insurance over the winter?
We would need to inform DVLA that it's off road and not insured but that's no problem.

Does anyone know any insurance companies that will 'suspend' a policy?

PS. I am aware of 'issues' relating to a frames and possible theft of car while not insured.
