Just collected new Autosleeper Suffolk on Mercedes chassis after p/xing Surrey model, the habitation door does not lock with the central locking which I believe it should, I cannot see any wiring going into the door, can any one with similar vehicle tell me if the habitation door should operate with the central locking as it did on my Surrey model.
Many thanks
Yes, Padraigpost, I have a similar vehicle to yours and the the habitation door should definitely lock with the rest of the doors.
Mine locks tight.....so should yours.
Look near the top of the vertical edge of the door and frame on the opening side.
If A/S are still using the same system you will see a block of three little electical contacts on both.
It looks like a good system, but it obviously isn't, because ours is also dodgy.
Try giving the door a good slam from the outside, pushing with your hand as high up as you can reach. This should ensure the top door latch is closing properly. The central locking may work then.
The basic problem is the door not fitting perfectly flush from top to bottom. Ours (and yours by the sound of it) latches perfectly well at the bottom, but the top of the door bows out a bit so the top latch needs a slam.
Hope this makes sense.
(I don't think we have ever had a caravan or motorhome where the habitation door didn't have to be slammed to close it properly. A damn nuisance late at night, especially if "next door" are quite close! )
Thanks Zebedee,
yes mine has got the 3 contacts on the door but no amount of slamming will make it lock, the door is bowed (you can even see daylight through the top corner) but I am unable to push the door in at the top.
Looks like a job for the dealers along with a few more faults to be rectified such as cab interior lights have never worked and a few parts to be replaced which were damage/missing on collection.
many thanks once again
Don
