We have a new 2012 10001 and we had some extras fitted by the dealer, amongst these were two TV's and a Camos 40cm sat system. The digibox (grundig) was converted to 12 volts by the dealer who also fitted two magic eyes for remote channel changing and that the power for this came via an on/off switch fitted to a 9 volt PP9 battery box and that we should turn this off when in storage. However the battery drains in two days, the dealer says the digibox remote eyes should only draw milli amps but clearly this is not the case as we have now tried 3 new batteries with the same result. Any ideas ? So far the dealer has not responded and another round trip of 400+ miles is not what I want to do as with only delivery miles on the clock when we picked it up we are now over 600 and we haven't done anything but drive to the blooming dealers and back for warranty repairs!
Planning on being at the Shepton show next week if any dealers/electric whiz kids can help.

I have no idea why the dealer needed a 9volt battery to supply the magic eyes. As far as I know all digiboxes have the capability to provide 12v out for powering things like magic eyes!!!

Sounds like the easiest solution is to physically disconnect the 9 volt battery when you don't need it.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Without the 9 volt supply the sat channel change won't work unless you hold it 6" from the front tv screen.
Coming off the back of six US RV's over the last 10 years I'm used to a 240 volt set up, with all the problems I've had so far with a European I'm thinking the £100K could have been better spent ! So far my "downsizing" has not gone well, thanks for your input though.

Can you tell us what make the magic eyes are? or maybe post a link to similar ones on ebay. We may then be able to advise on a better way to use them than the 9v battery.
In fact can you tell us the model number of the grundig digibox? It may help with a solution.

Thanks for the offer have found the problem this morning. The switch fitted to the 9V battery box had an intermittant connection which caused a short. Have ditched the box and hard wired in a 12-9 power supply, this will go off when we switch out the 12 volt circuits on the panel. All seems well much obliged for you interest, now slightly less anti European MH for the rest of the week Very Happy
