Hi Safariboy

We're members of ADAC, maybe you could explain what it is you want to know?

I like ADAC because I have an english speaking helpful soul on the end of the telephone. For the yearly cost we are covered for whatever vehicle we are driving, and even if there are cost limits we only pay £70 ish a year. We have used them once in the UK when my husband put petrol instead of diesel in the MH. They sent out a breakdown truck, drained the tank and put diesel in it. It would have cost well over £200.
If we do not need them again we have done well for our money.

Is there a UK number? On their booklet there are numbers for many countries but not UK!

I think you may be misunderstanding exactly what the €200 limit applies to. It's only applied to the cost of recovery should you need it. I assume you didn't need recovery as the problem was fixed in situ, Alan.

Edit: I saw this limit being applied. Details here: http://www.motorhomefacts.com/ftopict-81301-adac.html

My understanding is that you have to phone the Munich number and they then notify the AA who come out to you in the UK.
I'm sure someone who has used them will be able to either confirm or correct that?

Been with them for 14 months now, had to call them out on a motorway in France. I had actually limped into a service station being aware of the monopoly that applies to recovery and assistance on French Motorways only to find that it also applies to the service areas.

It was a puncture on the twin wheel, I started to fix it my self only to discover I couldn’t remove the nut under the euroliner hub. As it was recessed too deep on the twin wheel.

ADAC were extremely helpful on the phone, even to the extent of phoning the services manager to explain that they would have to call out the recovery/repair truck out for us. Just sign for it I was told by the ADAC, don’t give them any money.

By the time he arrived I had it jacked, spare at hand and 4 of the five nuts broken. He loosened the one nut, put the spare on and waved us goodbye with the garage contents strewed over the carpark.

Amazingly he didn’t want to see a card or any documentation. Just asked us if I was an ADAC members and said sign here (no printed name or membership number) and left. I had time to see that he had charged them 189 euro though for less than quarter an hours work

I suspect they have been ripped off right left and centre. No wonder they want to tighten up. I would like to get to the bottom of the 200 euro business though. Thank goodness it was only one tyre Rolling Eyes

How does that limit apply in practise then?

If the engineer decides its going to cost more you have to pay the outstanding amount?

Paul.
