My TT One has now reached its end of life as regards map holding capacity so I am considering updating to a current offering.
I have narrowed my choices between staying with a TT product (truck) or changing to a Garmin Dezl.
Firstly I would appreciate feedback about the possibility, if it is possible, of being able to transfer my considerable database of personal POI's to a Garmin product.
Secondly would any ex TT users who have changed to Garmin share their opinion of an 'challenges' which presented themselves.

I can only say that we moved from an elderly TT to a Garmin last year and were very disappointed with the Garmin in terms of display, accuracy and especially POI display (which is non-existent).
My advice would be to stick with TT, despite their shortcomings.

If your memory card is full you can do one of 2 things.
Fit a bigger memory card.
or
Go into the settings and get rid of all the different languages and all of the different voices (and there are many).
This gives you spare memory. Quite a lot in fact.
Thanks for the suggestion but the TT One works with 1Gig of internal memory, will not work off a card in the SD slot , current maps require in excess of 2 Gig and I have already deleted all the foreign voices.

The TomTom Via Live 120 has 4Gb internal memory, Google Live Seach which often renders POI's irrelevant as you can search Google Maps in real time, Live traffic which is excellent for avoiding jams as well as built in bluetooth hands free for you mobile phone. Cost £150 from Halfords in March - there will no doubt be similar offers on now.

Got to agree with Gaspode (dammit).
Had reason to use both TomTom and Garmin alongside each other this autumn and I found TomTom far more intuitive to use than the Garmin. POIs were much easier to view. I'm a TomTom user of old - just so that you know where my prejudices lie.
Agree with Addie the Tomtom Live 120 or 125 are good covering 45 countries with whole map on the unit as the internal memory is 4GB. This storage space is plenty for the Big map and for the addition of others such as Morocco and still have plenty of space for your POI's
To maintain the Live facility after the first year is nearly £50 per year. This does not cover map updates.
The unit does not enable you to put in vehicle dimensions but you can set max speed for route management. Varying the max speed of your vehicle in the unit does result in different results in that it will not go the longer way which is quicker if your vehicle can do 70.
The 120 is currently £140 on Amazon.
Not aware of the Truck model spec so don't know if it has the Live facility which helps with traffic difficulties as well as having the Google option
We have the older Tomtoms and they only have 2GB of memory which means they cannot hold the complete map(2.5GB). The maps are split up into Mapzones and you put the zone you want on the unit for your journey. Once you have downloaded all the 5 mapzones to your computer before you start your journey you can firstly load the Western Area for your trip which covers UK, Portugal to French Border and up to Holland. When you get to the Border of the map, say Germany, you connect it to your computer and without the need to connect to the internet you can change the map on the unit to Eastern, Southern, Northern or Central Europe in about 30 minutes.
Staying with TT will enable you to use your POi's (Assuming the Truck version accepts it)
