Hiya, i'm only technically a newbie to motorhoming as I've been a camper van owner for twenty odd years, always small vw's, but i've lately bought a 1992 Elnagh Magnum due to the need for more space for my seven year old and Murphy, my seven-stone bullmastiff. I'm struggling with the trumatic heater and i'm searching the web for information. I've tried the Truma website but i can't find anything relating to older units. I've also tried to find the model number on the unit but either it's not there or i'm looking in the wrong place. The cover is a brown enamelled metal with punched louvres in it. There is a control knob on top of it to the right side and a separate control on the camper wall for the blower. When i turn the knob on the heater it begins to spark, the spark can be seen through a small window at the bottom right side of the heater. But it won't light, i don't know if i'm doing something wrong, is there a specific procedure for lighting it? I'd also love to get any paperwork such as would have been supplied new with the van, if anyone can suggest where i would find such a thing. I have the Elnagh Magnum instructions but everything else is in Italian and it mostly seems to relate to the electrics. Hope you can help me.
Thank you

Marky,

On the Truma web site there is details of previous models.

Trumatic S, E, and C

For anyone to give you good advice, you are going to have to supply a model number.

It may be beneficial to take a photo of the unit and post on here, or email directly to Truma

Thanks for that, i was concentrating on the outer cover, someone said that the heaters haven't changed in 20 years so i went back to the Truma site. I have printed off fitting and installation instructions now, i think my heater is the s3002p, the internals certainly look like it.

Unfortunately it doesn't give me a clue as to why it won't light. I'll keep at it and post a couple of pictures.

Ta again

Marky,

Things to check.

1. do you have Gas ?
2. is the Gas getting to the fire ?
3. Is there an in-line isolation switch?
4. has the fire been serviced?
5. check around the piezo and the pilot light for dust and dirt?

If all the above is no good to you take the MH into a service centre or get a mobile caravan/MH service engineer to have a look.

Steve

Guys, thanks for all your help, after digesting the manuals in depth i replaced the AA battery in the sparking unit, and hey presto...a much better spark and heat, copious quantities of it!!, very impressive although i imagine it'll be hard on gas until i work out the best setting for temperature. Thanks again.
