Hi everyone, do any of you have an Elnagh Magnum circa 1992 ish, or did anyone own one who would be happy for me to pick their brains about general day to day use. We've just bought a 1992 one on a Talbot Express 1300 chassis, 2.5 diesel (non turbo). It's in fantastic condition internally, no leaks, no damp smells, externally i would say very good after we gave it a good cleaning. We have owned little vw campers for the past twenty years so this is a big change for us and i have loads of (probably silly) once only questions.

Thanks

Mark

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum. Looks like you've got a rare vehicle.

Hi Mark,

I live in Dublin and have a 1994 Elnagh Magnum 675 on a Fiat Ducato 2.5 TDi which is the same engine as the Talbot albeit a turbo. The big problem I am having is getting spares and this has turned into a real nightmare.

Good luck with the camper.

Mick

I have an Elnagh Clipper 90 (2005) on Ducato 2.3 base vehicle. Don Amott Leisure Kingdon used to be a UK dealer so may be worth contacting?

Don Amott

I think they changed from McLouis/Elnagh/SEA franchise quite recently but may be worth an email? I was able to get a replacement cupboard lock from them about 2 years ago. They have an Elnagh Slim 2005 on their books at the moment.

Steve

Steve, Nick, thanks for the replies. Steve, thanks for the help with a possible supplier, i'll save him to my favorites. Nick, i don't know where you've tried for spares or what spares you're after, for the base vehicle or the camper? There's a good thread running on the "preloved" website relating to Talbot express spares. Also there's a dealer, no1gear.com, who specialises in them. But for spares for the camper i'm at a loss too. See Steve's post above. I could do with a windscreen seal but i'm really struggling. One dealer got in touch with the distributor for me but they wanted to sell me a by-the-metre seal. Since the original is one piece with moulded corners i didn't want to chance it. I'll be trying some sort of a sealant for the time being, otherwise it'll be back to the drawing board. Thanks again.

Nick, further to my last, i'm very jealous that you have a td engine. Mine is the n/a and is in my opinion very underpowered. If you should hear of a td going for sale i'd appreciate a message. Incidentally do you know what mpg you're getting out of it? Also is your gas supplied by replaceable bottles or is it a refillable tank? Mine is a refillable tank underslung on the drivers side but i haven't worked out how to refill it!

Hi Mark, tks for the link to the talbot spares site. I did have the no1gear address but my laptop was nicked from my house before Christmas.
I'm not sure what the mpg is and I carry a lot of gear for diving and kayaking so it wouldn't be a good comparison for you but I reckon I get around 400km out of a full tank. Also it has the aerodynamics of a brick!
I use refillable butane bottles and am thinking of changing to propane. Used the van last september and the temp dropped to freezing and couldn't get the blow heating to work on the butane and I had left my small electric blow heater at home.
Will keep an ear out for a TDi engine. Have you tried contacting the motorcaravan club in Dublin - 353 1 8251364. They can be very helpful.
Rgds.
