I have been having some trouble with filling my gas bottles. They were taking forever and as we plan to be travelling overseas for the next few weeks, it seemed a good idea to get them checked over.
I phoned GasLow and was told that I could just come on over, which we did (only 86 miles).
A nicer welcome I have rarely had but it was not until we drank their tea and coffee that any questions were asked.
Amongst other things, I had succeeded in over-filling both bottles by holding on to the button long after they were full; one reason why the gas was taking forever to go in.
They took everything out of my gas locker, tested it and although no fault was found in any of the components, I left with everything except the pipes being replaced with new units and re-fitted.
They replaced what gas they were able to get from my bottles into the new replacement bottles.
After I left and refilled the bottles, they filled faster than they ever had before, so there may have been a problem somewhere.
The catch? They did not charge me for anything.
GasLow International go to the very top for outstanding service, in wanting the customer to be satisfied and not need to return, which is a pity for a nicer group of people would be hard to find.

Alan

Sounds as though the 80% overfill protection was not cutting off the fill.

But on 2 bottles? - sounds unlikely. Unless they had a faulty batch, in which case that may explain very friendly service, but not completely because Gaslow have had good press on here before.

Anyway pleased they sored you out.

Geoff

Hi,

The pump stops when I fill mine but it will then creep very slowly if I keep my hand on the button.
It's a bit worrying to think that I might be going past the safety valve on the tanks and over filling them.

It would be nice the have the advice of a qualified "Trade Member".

Mine stopped so abruptly that it was obvious the shut off had functioned. I would not think to continue pressing the button Rolling Eyes

Mine doesn't actually stop either, the rate of delivery changes to the same slow creep that BillCreer describes. You can continue to fill veeeery slowly but I realised after the initial fills that this change indicated Full so I don't any more.

I would suggest it is faulty if it doesn't stop.(apart from 1st fill on the odd occasion)

I do think that I had a problem.
I had been having a problem filling the bottles for some time, but had been told on at least two occasions by the respective (different) garages, that they were having trouble with slow running pumps. So to test out if I had a problem, I used gas freely over the New Years weekend rally then went to top up the tanks. From the outset they were very slow to fill indeed and after about three minutes the bill had reached 38p.
I am advised that I should have stopped adding gas but as the pump never attempted even a part fast fill, I surmised that I was encountering a problem and went for help to GasLow. They had not had a problem with slow filling tanks previously but in case a new problem was arising, they covered every possibility including new tanks.
Their service left me speechless! Outstanding!

My cylinder valve was loose when it arrived from Hamilton gas, I removed cleaned the thread and re sealed it rather than mess about. Not had a reply to my email yet as to how this happened. How did it pass inspection at the factory Rolling Eyes
