I have been using an HP 720C printer for the last ?10 years? with good results. I put in a new colour cartridge just before Christmas and have been trying to print out a photo for o'alfs 70th driving licence. The colours I am getting on a print trial is pink pale purple, pale torquoise -gap then another pink. Black seems to be good as all samples of styles good. I have another HP printer which has a yellow cartridge. When I print out a flower photo, green seems to be the ingredient missing. I have always boasted about my 720C but not sure what to do. Set up the new printer????

If the printer is 10 years old then you've probably had your money's worth and I'd just replace it. The quality of printers has improved considerably and they are probably much cheaper now than they were 10 years ago!

The other point to make is that a photo printed on a home printer will probably fail the quality standards required for current passport and driving licences.

If it's a licence that can be applied for at a Post Office then there's a new service available from certain post offices where they take the photo at transmit it to DVLA electronically.

Hi Wendy,

Happy new year.

A couple of suggestions.

Have you used a direct HP cartridge? I cannot get other makes (or refills) to work on HP printers we have had.

Secondly, try getting the printer to do a cartridge clean. Might be dried ink somewhere.

Hope this helps
Brian

I would try running the cleaning programme on the printer to see if that clears it.

On the question of greens on the other printer you don't say what colour you get instead of green. If they come out yellow then it's your cyan (blue) colour that's missing if they come out blue then your yellow cartridge is at fault.
