Whilst investigating links for the AV2HDR software (converts any MPEG file to Humax format), I discovered some clever lads have totally hacked the box firmware. I upgraded mine yesterday, its amazing ! Allows you, amongst other things, a Browser page on any PC that's permanently connected to your Humax...allows you to control the box remotely from the PC, view both Live programs or recordings on any PC (or phone !!) any where in your house, copy both ways to/from box/pc, delete files, set timers, view EPG. Its totally fantastic....and the best bit, it allows you to add any non-Freesat channels into the Freesat EPG, ie, Sue likes the Horse and Country channel, which is although a Non-Freesat channel, is now available directly from the Freesat menu.
To upgrade, you simply copy a file to a USB stick, put it in the Humax (switched off) ...switch on and hold the on/off button till you see numbers onscreen, it then reflashes the box firmware (its all totally reversible of course, if needed).
Even better, its all open source, so totally FREE...we like
It's called "Media and File Bundle for Foxsat HDR", and you can get it all at -
What and interesting site My Humax Forum is. I didn't know it existed despite having had the Freeview 9200T for years. Although now discontinued the forum has loads of software and tips for it. I now have a TV which can get Freesat as well as Freeview so am looking to get the latest Humax Freesat box so I can record the HD programs. This site will help with info. Thanks for posting the link.
