I have bought a new Laptop (HP G6) with windows 7. Can someone guide me as to where I find Window Mail(like Outlook Express on XP, so that I can get into Tools-accounts and put all my server details in. I am with Virgin at the moment but at Ģ18 a month think will be changing when I get more time.
Grateful for a lead. I understand manual is accessed through the computer.

Hi

Can you not select Windows Live Mail in the programmes list.

You should then get a dialogue box where you put your email address and it tries to set up the account for you. There is an little tick box in the dialogue box which enables yopu to manually enter all your details if it will not sort it out for you.

Once you are in there is an accounts button at the top where you could add more email accounts .

Good luck. Camera next I assume??

I bought a new laptop last month and was confused when it didn't come with Outlook. But with Windows 7 you will have Windows Live Mail. Easy to set up and import address book - I've even grown to love it Very Happy

As for your service provider I changed to BT last year. Now, wherever I camp, I can connect free of charge through one of the 3 million hotspots in UK. I even found several bars/cafes in the Algarve where I could connect to BT Fon.

Good luck,

Jed

In the Servers window have you ticked "My server requires authentication"?

You could also try changing the outgoing mail port to 587 in the Advanced window.

Hi Doug,
After searching the windows remedies sites, found solution thus: click on WLM then Accounts - Properties - Advanced and untick the boxes re SSL .
So this might help someone with the layest Windows 7, as on one site it stated earlier that there was no need to do this.
Now for the Sony Laughing

Eeer, excuse me, I might be wrong here and not understanding your problem correctly. But I was under the impression that Windows 7 is the operating system and Outlook is in Microsoft office.
When loading you use 2 discs one for Windows 7 the other for all the Office programs, so you should still find Outlook in the drop down menu in Microsoft Office.
If you had Office on your computer before you loaded 7 and you can't find it now when you look in Programs then go to My Computer click your C drive and in the dropdown menu there should be a file called Windows Old. Open that and if I understand your problem correctly then all your old files should be there including all your Office programs.

Scattycat, I think you'll find that ambegayo was asking ref Outlook Express which was the stand alone email handling program on older versions of Windows, not the Outlook you refer to.
The only mail handler now offered for Win7 is Livemail, although if you really want a stand alone, then there are third party applications available, some free some to buy.
