I hope this question has not been answered already. If it has I can't find it.

I have a Sky + box in the house, it hasn't been connected to a phone line for many years.

Can I use it in my motorhome powered via a 12 volt inverter. connected to a Sky minidish.

TV is an Avtex HD ready.

It has.

The search function isn't always easy so you're not alone.

Hi, we have a 300W inverter which powers the Sky box from our leisure battery; you do not need a big inverter if this is all you need

I have been told by Sky that i am breaking the agreement with them if i dont have my telephone line connected. So i think that if you only take it away for the short term you may be ok, otherwise check

Yes you can use it BUT you will not be able to record unless you have a second LNB feed and even then it is debatable whether it would work.......

according to another thread (which I cannot locate at the present) the record function is based on a code on the Sky card and when you no longer have a contract Sky send signals via the satellite for 2 months to disable it.

If your Sky+ box has been disconnected more than 2 months it MIGHT still record - but would need 2 feeds.

I've had a Sky box for about 15 years, there wasn't an alternative where we lived.
The only time it was connected to a phone was when it was originally installed to get a free box etc.
