I am staying with a group at Alderstead Heath CC site in Surrey in the summer and wonder if there are any interesting NT properties around there to visit or other place s of interest which members have vsiited locally from there and can recomend. I understand there is a daily bus service from the site. I am told that site is now within the London Low Emission zone.

Hi

If you go to the National Trust Website http://beta.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/places/find-a-place-to-visit/
and type in Redhill, it lists all the local Trust properties and their distance away. There are loads Very Happy

If you like properties rather than just gardens and countryside, I can recommend Chartwell (the home of Winston Churchill). It has loads of memorabilia and a studio containing his paintings, plus the restaurant is quite good too Very Happy

Standen is also good if you like William Morris styled interiors.

For gardens, Wakehurst is great and they have the Millennium Seed Bank there as well
