Sounds as if the glue was either a contact adhesive (Very unlikely) or a silicone sealant. So I would try the latter. What I am not sure about is if you can use them with a drinking water system. Silaflex will probable help.

You could give O'leary's a ring. They are not too far away at Beverley.

Apart from selling parts, they did (still do?) motorhome builds and should know what you need. They are very helpful on the phone.

Richard, it may help others to advise you if you could post a pic of item/surfaces you are trying to stick together.

Is this a permanet contact where the glue is the only holder or are we talking about a de-mountable flange type where you just need a seal while it is in place.

That adhesive use is a solvent based which, if it had worked, would be a permanent attachment.

i remember being fascinated that they sprayed water on a glue in the manufacture of upvc doors to activate it ( holds the white panels to the frame) ... my overflow pipe on my tank is glued in with this by the coachbuilder...

Ps.. the door glue was sprayed on then the water and it bubbled up like a very thin coat of expanding foam and i wondered if it was a derivative of expanding foam Question

Most tanks are made from polyethylene which is not easy to bond.

You might find this Loctite info useful. http://www.loctite.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/henkel_uke/hs.xsl/instant-adhesives-5679.htm

Hi Richard

I used something named "Plumbers Gold" on my waste tank.

Its from Everbuild and got it from my local hardware store.

Its holding a pipe to the dump valve and has never leaked( 2yrs) even when tank is full .

This stuff really sticks even if pipe is wet or not a perfect fit, I got the clear one.

Only problem was its for use in a mastic gun and was not cheap. It does not set straight away and is not easy to get off the hands.
