I keep getting a message that there are 24 items to update on my device.
I turn on the device and plug it into my computer and the 'mytomtom' page loads... and then freezes.
I then get an error message that the tomtom page is not responding and I then click on the 'fix problem' option - it reloads the page but still sits there.
This has happend for the past 3 days, any ideas?
I am also not impressed with the tomtom website,it is slow, clunky and often freezes.
When I bought my 1005 I had a similar problem, the site would not recognise the new satnav,I then downloaded the tomtom site from >>>Here<<< and eventually got it to work,it's still slow and occasionally hangs though.

One of the problems we have encountered is that our TT is the Europe version and the Europe maps are now so large that they won't fit in.......
Somewhere on MHF it described the same problem and talked about having to download each part as you need it - hardly the answer when we purchased (in June 2011) a Europe TT......
Apparently it's the maps for the "new" European countries that have caused it to be overloaded.......
But our chances of visiting Latvia and similarly remote parts of the former Soviet Union are small c/w our desire to visit France, then perhaps Spain and Portugal - each of which has to be separately downloaded now apparently - I do hope someone will tell me I'm wrong.....
Coupled with TT's new "no you cannot have French speed cameras even though you have paid for them" is making TT increasingly less desirable.....

The "My TomTom" application is worth downloading and is an improvement, but it still isn't much good. I would certainly have expected better online support from someone like TomTom.
I think it's a bit superfluous anyway, since most of the useful data updates seem to arrive anyway as soon as the gadget is switched on and connects itself to the "Live" function.
It was Steve who persuaded me to buy a 1005 - not that I need much convincing after watching his for a fairly short journey! Very pleased with the device, but the web support is rubbish.
He may be able to add more - he has played with his 1005 for a lot longer than me.
My updates have been ok in the past, if a little slow, but now the 'mytomtom' webpage just sits there doing absolutely nuffink with regular attempts over the past three days, I can't even log into my account although I can still add/remove poi's via the 'add community content' option.
Those '24 new items' are still sat there in 'Mytomtom', which reminds me every time I switch on, its beginning to annoy me now.
The damn fool website won't even tell me what they are - so I can't decide whether to ignore them or press ahead and try to download them.
Dave
Trust you to go one better
Also, apparently when I do eventually get connected, tomtom is going to delete all the speed cameras for France as well since the recent new regs.
I never use them so that won't be a loss.
Just a suggestion but why not contact TomTom direct, you can ring them in Holland (perfect English spoken) or via email, I've used their contact service a couple of times and they resolved my issues quickly.

I still use a Tomtom Go, the original model available in the UK.
The 'My Tomtom programme works perfectly and updates as far as its limits. Quite a few of later add-ons are not available to such an ancient model.
When I first got it I removed the SD card which had the software on it and copied it on another 2gb SD card. This gave me the original software as a back up.
When the mapping space required went up I just swapped the 2gb card with a larger capacity card and deleted all surplus files such as foreign voices and unwanted colour schemes.
