hi, can anyone help please. we need to pick some friends up, who will be arriving at bergerac airport. as we wiil be in the mh we want to know if it is mh friendly, ie no barriers on car parks etc.
A couple of years ago we stayed a few miles out from Bergerac at St Saviour De Bergerac which is a tiny village with a small Aire near a Restaurant. Very quiet and free.
the airport has been shut from 9th January until 23rd March as the entire runway is being dug up and rebuilt - it was in need of it due to increased traffic
the amount of machinery on the site is fascinating and the piles of new stone are immense - they have been collecting it for the last three months and piling it up near the airport....
the car park is NOT MH friendly IMO, the entrance is narrow and there re up and down barriers, but it is possible to wait along the road to the airport near an access gate onto the airfield BUT DO NOT LEAVEE THE VEHICLE UNATTENDED as it is NOT an official parking place but is regualrly used for larger vehicles.
The road to the arrivals point is VERY narrow and very tight to get into, don't try it, wait short of the airport at the point just mentioned.
See the picture below the arrow marks where to stop
There is an aire at Bergerac - not exactly sure where as they shut the last aire which was a beautiful spot by the river about 12 months ago. There is also an aire at Monbazillac - one of the wine-producing villages very close to the airport and probably nicer than being in the centre of Bergerac.
There is no height barrier at the airport but the entrance to the carpark is far too narrow for a campervan. However, many people wait just down the road until the plane they are waiting for lands and then drive up to collect the passengers as they come out. If there will be more than 1 of you in the van someone could stay in the van while someone else walks the few hundred metres up the road to collect your friends as they come off the plane. The driver can then drive round the airport road to face the right direction to get out again. We live 40 minutes from the airport and have done similar in the past.
Oh and just to warn you, the airport is totally shut until 23rd March whilst they re-lay the runway.
hi mrs w, notice on the map that mombazillac is on the road to eymet.
what i would like to know, what day does the fish n chips van arrive in eymet.lol

We picked our daughter up from Bergerac airport in our motorhome with no problems at all . We then stayed on the Municipal camp site which is right on the river side minutes walk from the centre of Bergerac.
