Hi all
i know there is lots of information on here about travelling in france. but i would like to know what will be best for us as a family travelling from the 16th August for 16 days. we are travelling dover to calais on the train and our 1st stop is for the kids to euro disney, so any advise on how long we really need there and good sites to stay at. then after that some info on fantastic places to visit, our kids are 12 and 13 and we love the lakes, beaches, walking, caves, castles. not sure what the best route is to take but obviously would like to stop at some camp sites with pools for the kids just for a break. also any places best to avoid.

many thanks
ann

Get the ACSI Book [MHF Link], although it is not in use most of July you may find some can be used as early as 21st August and by the time you have done Disney and moved on you should be about right.

Are you taking bikes, I would advise you to do so it adds so much to a holiday with children that age.

For a bit of culture you could do Oradour Sur Glane and stay on the Aire there it is excellent with all you need.

There is then an aire just outside Angers, Bouchemaine (check it out on Campsite Map) and you can cycle both ways from it one leads to Angers and goes through a park which has a beach area that was heaving with children and adults playing on the lake side last year.

Then head to La Rochelle and there is a municipal in Marans , it has an outside pool, a teenage tent for evening with pool and table tennis but somewhere for them to hang out. Just next door you can hire little motor boats for half a day and go off exploring the waterways, around 38 euros but both mine loved the driving of the boat which you have for yourself.

We have been taking son since he was 13 now 20 and daughter who is now 12. We tend not to do the busy sites with pools but have found a couple of excellent ones.

Sorry will stop rambling now - Check out Frommer with familly books on ebay, we have got some great info from ours
Mandy
