Searching the forums it seems 5 Live and Sports Extra are unavailable via satellite in southern Spain. We're not interested in tv but like the sport on radio.

Can anyone confirm whether it's possible to get these stations in Andalucia?

Many thanks.

Will await your first-hand report with interest. I believe that 5 Live and Sports Xtra are on a weak satellite beam, though.

Most BBC radio stations are on the astra 2 south beams, so reception is nice and easy.

however, 5live and 5extra are on astra 2d...and are on the weaker horizontal beam of 2d...and so are harder to receive than the other bbc radios, and even then in some areas of spain even a 3.1m dish will not get them 24/7.

As 5lives are on a similar frequency as BBC2 England, i understand that in Andalucia you need at least 1.2m dish to receive them

yes i have had a look and radio 5 and extra are on different frequencies than radio 2 etc... radio 5 is on
10.803Ghz H 22000 5/6

which includes the following tv channels

BBC One Scotland
BBC Two Scotland
BBC Radio 5 Live
BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra
BBC News

so if Jon has not replied, as you can see if you can get bbc news 24 you should get radio 5.... me thinks

Thanks, guys. Looks like I'll have to see what happens - 1.2metres might be a bit big for the M/H roof though. Confused
