Hi,

My Van went in for an MOT and now there's a warning message coming up "Speed Limit Exceeded'. I phoned a Fiat dealer and they said that the MOT centre had inadvertantly reset the nominal speed that the warning message pops up. How do I change the nominal speed so that I can get rid of this message?

Unfortunately my owner manual is in German and I need to fix this problem before my trip on Sunday....

Thanks in advance for your help.

Richard.

It is set using the mode button which is to the right and lower than the steering wheel. You can deactivate the speed warning instead of changing it if you wish.

Setting the speed limit (SPEEd)
With this function it is possible to set the
vehicle speed limit (km/h or mph), when
this limit is exceeded the driver is immediately
alerted (see section “Warning lights
and messages”).
To set the speed limit, proceed as follows:
– briefly press button MODE, the display
will show the wording (SPEEd) and the
unit (km/h) or (mph) previously set;
– press button ▲ or ▼ to select speed
limit activation (On) or deactivation
(OFF);
– if the function has been activated (On),
press buttons ▲ or ▼ to select the required
speed limit and then press MODE
to confirm;
Note The possible setting is between 30
and 200 km/h, or between 20 and 125
mph depending on the unit set previously
(see paragraph “Setting the distance unit
(Unit)”) described later. Every press on
button ▲/▼ increases/decreases by 5
units. Keeping the button ▲/▼ pressed
obtains the automatic fast increase or decrease.
When you are near the required
setting complete adjustment by single
presses.
– briefly press button MODE to go back
to the menu screen or press the button
for long to go back to the standard screen
without storing settings

PS, I have a pdf copy of the handbook. PM me with an email address and I will send you a copy. You could download one from here: http://www.fiatforum.com/downloads.php?do=cat&id=23

You don't have to fix this immediatley, all this is is a warning that you have exceeded a speed limit that has been set on the computer of the MH.

Just drive the unit as normal, after about 30 seconds of the warning it goes off.

I set my speed warning at 65 mph, however if I want to travel faster I can

I do need to fix this immediately because the warning tone is driving me nuts! I think they've set the speed limit to 30mph so it goes off all the time!
