I need to get a habitation service done on my Frankia in April,so since I'am going to Spain then I thought I would get an idea of prices from dealers on the the way. With regard to previous post's about Cranham's not servicing vans they did not sell, I decidid to try Frankia dealers in France.First price 110 euros, second 136 euros,I then phoned Cranham's £248 because they didn't supply it and if they had it was still £176.So I guess I will be going to the French dealer.
even if not, the french one will know his way around the van, maybe a free night stop as well thrown in.
they love it when us English turn up in a non UK van. says me who has just had his done at JCross, because he never thought of having it done over there.
Just had mine done, nice job, not too expensive, but everything wrong isn't covered by the warranty (Second-hand MH). I did get a hand-brake extender at a reduced price, so now my wife can have a go at driving.
It's about 3 years since we had a habitation check done on the continent but we've had a couple done in Germany, each time the same price - €61 and always takes one hour - exactly.
I presume they only do the damp tests and gas/electrical safety checks but usually that's all that is required to maintain the warranty.
I should add that I'm not talking back-street operatives here, we've only used main dealers - and had the service booked stamped up.
Maybe the UK dealers need to introduce a "bare bones" habitation check that only covers the essentials, many of the check lists I've seen are far too involved for a straightforward "warranty check and stamp the book" operation.

As a matter of interest what do we expect from a hab check? for example what do you expect them to do exactley? then we can compare like for like costings.... as far is I understand it there's different specs where ever you go.....
Whilst there are some who might genuinely want all this work doing there are many (like me) who who only want sufficient done to fulfill warranty requirements. The NCC list reads more like a full habitation service sheet than a habitation check.

Well it's a German supplied van so all I want is to keep up the warranty for the full 5 years,I'm not being a cheapskate but why should I pay mega money at one official dealer and pass on a better price at another one when passing within 5 miles of them?
