Has anyone managed to assemble the shaft over the 3 O rings? I find it completely impossible. I suspect that oversize rings have been fitted? as soon as you get past one it just squeezes out through the allen screw fixing hole making it impossible to pass on to the next without sheering through the first Rolling Eyes

Have you got the assembly sheet? I cannot remember having a problem when I fitted mine many years ago, except that it was on a sloping roof!

Yes its brand new with instructions. Fitting to the roof is not the problem, it's fitting the mast to the head in the first instance.

Don't remember having any problems, but if it is over rubber O rings then a dash of washing up liquid should help.

Can't help you with this, Techno but I hope you don't mind me asking a related question rather than starting a new thread.

I have snapped one of the antennae of my Status 530. Are these easy to replace?

Jed

Gerry, yes it says that in the instructions. I've concluded the O rings are too thick and not to original specification (a supply problem perhaps) I've emailed Grade/UK for their opinion.

Jed, do you use the Aerial for the radio? if not then the telescopic bits are not needed.
There are complete replacement heads on ebay

The telescopic antennae are only for FM radio reception. If you do not use the aerial for radio then there is no need to replace the rod.

This is what happens due to the o rings being too thick (in my opinion)

I fitted one to my Hobby last week and didn't encounter a problem fitting the shaft over the O rings. It sounds as you say, the O rings are too big.
I did think, as I was assembling the ariel that 3 O rings were a bit of an over kill just to seal the head unit to the shaft.
