I've had two systems like that and found them OK perhaps not quite as hot as on gas but OK in most circumstances.

Yes! Even when on EHU, the thing to do is fire it up on gas and, when it is pumping out some heat, turn it to electric and let it tick over on that.

A tip I picked up on here some time back, haven't looked back since.

yes its a difference between 1.7KW (max) on electric and 6KW from the gas... so there's a heating difference..... usually I leave it going 24/7 so its keep nice and woarm Smile

I'm talking about the C6002 EH series

The heat output from these systems is rated at 6kw running on gas and 1.8kw running on electric, hence there is more than three times as much heat available when used with gas. Little wonder they heat the 'van up quicker using gas. Surprised

If the electric heater was more powerful you'd spend a lot of time tripping hook-ups and they use a lot of gas because the gas heat output is equivalent to using two 3 bar electric fires at once - pretty powerful.

I too concur!! Gas for rapid heat-up, then electric to maintain temperature. In the depths of winter (or an English summer!) the electric struggles by itself. Under more normal circumstances, as at New Year, electric is fine. Wink

Works fine that way, given that information on handover from dealer, 1/2 hr kickstart on gas is the norm for ours, then over to lecky, never been cold since.

I have to say that I'm surprised that anyone would ever need more than 1.8kw heating to keep a 'van warm other than in extreme conditions. Confused

Not having a Truma electric option on our current 'Van we use a small electric fan heater when on hook-up and I can't remember the last time I had to use any higher than the 1kw setting. Maybe our 'van is just very well insulated? Confused
